FRANKLIN – Edward Damon Shafer Jr., 79, passed away on April 24, 2025 in Southside Regional Medical Center. Born on Oct. 5, 1945 in Washington, North Carolina and a former resident of Conway, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Edward Damon Shafer, Sr. and Louise Miles Shafer Canady.
Ed received a bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University and was a retired advanced math teacher at Northampton County High School.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 24 years, Sandra Tomlin Shafer; two sons, Edward Shafer and Mike Shafer; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Drew Dunn officiating. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
