The city of Franklin experienced a significant power outage Tuesday, April 22, around 10:30 a.m. that was caused by a bird.
Franklin Power & Light Interim Director Mark Bly stated after noon that all power was restored at 11:48 a.m.
He said the outage was caused by a bird short-circuiting the Dominion Energy line that feeds the city delivery point.
When Bly shared an update shortly after 11 a.m., he noted that Dominion had “dropped the feed to our Delivery #1 at the very end of South Street on to Smiths Ferry Road.”
He noted that this station serves approximately 2,780 customers, including those downtown, on Armory Drive, etc.
“They are working on an alternate feed at this time,” he said shortly after 11 a.m. “No estimated time given.”
