COURTLAND – Jerry Hewett, 85, died peacefully at home on April 11, 2025. He was born in Shallotte, North Carolina, a son of the late Charlie and Carrie Hewett and was also predeceased by a daughter, Melissa Lynn Hewett; brothers, Charles “C.L.”, Vol Therman “Shorty”, Alfred “Cubie” and sisters, Arlene Crowl and Shula Hewett.

Jerry worked at Union Camp for 41 years as an insulator in the maintenance department. Jerry loved Beaver Dam Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, RA Leader, Youth Group Leader and carpenter for many mission trips. He served as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Master for Pack/Troop 37 in Carrsville.

After his retirement, he and his wife, Nancy liked to fly rod fish and catch croaker and white perch.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 64 years, Nancy Ward Hewett; his son, Chris Hewett (Renae) and their children, Faith White (Lee) and Jordan Hewett (Rebekah); his daughter, Bontá Cunningham (Fred), a sister, Shirley Thompson; two brothers, Joey Hewett and Johnny Hewett (Linda) and brothers-in-law, Phil Ward, Rusty Ward and Lloyd Canady and a sister-in-law, Betty Friesland.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 14 in Beaver Dam Baptist Church with the Rev. Warren Johnson officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and suggests memorial donations be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church General Fund.
