BOYKINS – Amy Ruth Bryant Bolton, 70, longtime resident of Boykins and formally of Virginia Beach, was received into the welcoming arms of Jesus on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. She was born on June 19, 1954.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Peggy Bryant of Virginia Beach. She was the loving wife of Leon W. Bolton for nearly 45 years; treasured mother of Thomas A. Bolton (Sunshine) and Michael R. Bolton (Jessica); sister-in-law to Neal T. Bolton (Susan) and adored Gramma to Makenna and Brantley Bolton. Her nieces and nephews have fond memories of Thanksgivings spent at the Bolton Farm.
Amy dearly loved and was loved by her sisters, Becky Hitchings (Laurence) of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Lee Ann Kuenzli (John) of Youngsville, North Carolina and Carol Schorr (Matt) of Ruckersville Virginia. Amy was the tomboy of the quartet and loved to be at the front of any activity where fun would be had. She enjoyed softball, playing piano and singing in various youth choirs and singing groups throughout high school and college.
Amy received a teaching degree from Radford University and spent over 25 years as a much beloved elementary and special education teacher. Like her mom, Amy was the true definition of hospitality, laughter and kindness. After retirement from teaching, she was able to spend more time with her grandchildren who she absolutely adored. She enjoyed being outside and loved any time she could get away to the beach, one of her first loves. Many hours were spent canning vegetables from her large garden. Amy loved the Lord with all her heart and was very involved in activities at Rock Church of Franklin where she volunteered in the Rock Church School, sang on the worship team, kept nursery, worked in the children’s music ministry, performed skits and served as a Life Group leader for nine years. To know Amy was to love her and be her friend. She will be dearly missed.
Friends and family will gather for the celebration of Amy’s life on Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m. in the Ben S. Dillon Life Center of Rock Church of Franklin at 130 Lakeview Road in Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to Rock Church of Franklin. Special thanks to the Boykins Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad for all their heroic efforts on Amy’s behalf.
