Lady Broncos top Brunswick in tennis

The Franklin High School varsity girls tennis team won a match 5-4 over Brunswick High School on Wednesday, April 2. The match was played on the tennis courts at FHS.
Following are select results for the Lady Broncos from the match:
SINGLES
Seed 1: Mykira Barrett (medical leave);
Seed 2: Aniyah Vaughan won 8-1;
Seed 3: Akasha Wilson won 8-3;
Seed 4: Savannah Swann won 8-3; and
Seed 5: Nariyah Reed lost 9-8 ending in a 7-4 tie-breaker.
DOUBLES
Seed 2: Vaughan and Wilson won 8-3; and
Seed 3: Swann and Reed won 8-1.
After the match, Franklin Head Coach Calvin Carter stated, “It’s been a pleasure watching these young ladies develop into competitive players, and I’m looking forward to them having a great season. Upon returning (Mykira) Barrett is looking to shoot for state playoffs in singles and doubles with her partner (Aniyah) Vaughan. I believe they have the ability and drive to do it.”
The Tri-Rivers District website notes that the Lady Broncos were set to host King’s Fork High School on Tuesday, April 8, and visit Sussex Central High School on Thursday, April 10. Both matches were set to begin at 4 p.m.
