FRANKLIN – Judith G. DeLoatch, 83, departed this life March 15, 2025 surrounded by her family and those who loved her. She was born in Norfolk to the late Wesley S. and Elsie Fentress Griffin. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Franklin G. “Hank” DeLoatch; her sister, Jan G. Smith; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Vinson and Joyce DeLoatch, John and Faye DeLoatch, and David DeLoatch and Margaret DeLoatch Gayle.
Judy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She fiercely and quietly loved her small circle of family and special friends. She and Hank enjoyed many adventures with his brothers and their wives, and their special friends, Willard and Judy Hatfield and R.B. and Hazel Green.
She was dedicated to her husband and girls, and later to her grandchildren who were the joy of her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter and so many special memories to her family. Judy devotedly loved Hank during their long marriage and faithfully cared for him in his final illness, and after he passed away, she missed him terribly. We are so saddened to lose her in our earthly lives but so happy that she met him again at the gates of Heaven.
Judy is survived by her daughters, Deborah D. Rannigan (Gary), Linda DeLoatch, and Beverly D. Ellis (Doug); grandchildren, Evan Rannigan, Alex Rannigan, Meaghan Ellis (Luke Mackowiak), and Hunter Ellis; bonus daughter, Shirley Hayes; sister, Paula G. Tolson (Larry); and a host of nieces and nephews who loved their special “Aint” Judy.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 21 in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin with Rev. Curtis Faison officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
