Cindy embraced the legacy her father had woven within the education realm, stepping into the shoes of a dedicated educator with a heart for shaping young minds. Cindy graduated from the College of William & Mary in 1968 and later pursued a Master’s Degree from Old Dominion University in 1988. She began her distinguished teaching career at Virginia Beach Public Schools before dedicating 37 years to Chesapeake City Public Schools, where she touched countless lives through her passion for education.

Outside of her professional life, Cindy had a love for collecting ducks and copper weather vanes, and enjoyed shopping trips that brought joy to her and those around her. Her interests and hobbies reflected her vibrant personality and eye for beauty.

Cindy was a devoted member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church in Drewryville, where she found spiritual nourishment and community. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided her in her endeavors.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Milton Trice. Cindy leaves behind her beloved husband of 41 years, John W. Lowery, who was her partner and confidant. She is also survived by her cherished children, Samantha S. Wood (Casey) of Florida, and Sterling S. Taylor of Chesapeake. Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren: Kinsey W. Taylor of Charleston, SC, Henry “Thomas” Taylor IV of Chesapeake, and Brendon T. Wood of Florida.

A celebration of Cindy’s remarkable life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 at Oman Funeral Home, 653 Cedar Rd Chesapeake. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a woman whose warmth, wisdom, and kindness will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Cindy’s memory to support the local SPCA, a charity close to her heart.
