Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in Isle of Wight County on Wednesday afternoon, March 5, that resulted in a fatality.
A VSP news release stated that on March 5 at approximately 3:20 p.m., state police responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 258, south of Bows and Arrows Road.
According to the release, the preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2019 Honda Civic, Kristin Wiley Felts, was traveling southbound on Route 258 when she swerved into the northbound lanes of Route 258 and into the path of a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro, striking the vehicle head-on.
The news release stated that the driver of the Chevrolet Camaro, a 28-year-old male, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
State police reported that Kristen W. Felts, 50 years of age of Covey Circle, Franklin, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk where she later succumbed to her injuries.
“Currently this is still an active and ongoing investigation,” VSP officials stated in the news release. “It appears that weather and speed were both contributing factors in the crash. There is no indication that alcohol was a factor.”
