Jett Production Company (JPC) officially took off Jan. 16 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held outside of its new brick-and-mortar location at 27444 Southampton Parkway in Courtland.

The location is adjacent to East Side Rides and Feridies.

L. Terrel Majette, CEO and founder of JPC, was joined at the ceremony by family, friends and notable community leaders, including Franklin-Southampton Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Madison Berryman, Franklin Southampton Economic Development Inc. (FSEDI) President and CEO Karl Heck, Southampton County/Franklin Sheriff Josh A. Wyche Sr. and New Life Church Global Senior Pastor Dr. Eric Majette.

In May 2024, JPC, an audio/video production business, won the first-place prize of $20,000 for the sixth round of STARTUP Franklin Southampton, a business plan competition put on by FSEDI.

Terrel noted that JPC had technically been in operation prior to the recent ribbon-cutting ceremony, “but it seemed like once the brick-and-mortar actually came out is when business started, so we’re feeling comfortable about saying that we started Jan. 16 of this year.”

He noted that the journey that led to JPC becoming a reality started “way back when.”

“It started way back here in Franklin, just growing up here and always being into the entertainment industry,” he said. “I was always singing, I was always acting and doing things like that as a child, but I had to travel out in order to do it. There was really no platform for entertainment-minded people when I was here.”

Terrel went into the military, serving in the U.S. Army for eight years before moving with his wife, Rachel “Rae” Majette, to Atlanta, Georgia.

They lived there for five years, and while there, Terrel gained an education in the entertainment industry, learning about being a director, producer, actor and musician.

Equipped with this knowledge and success, Terrel said he thought, “Hey, I can do this at home too.”

“So now that’s the main goal,” he said. “There’s so much rich history in this area, but there’s just no platform to show it, so that’s what JPC is.”

He offered a summary of the services Jett Production Company provides.

“We are a high-quality video production services company that basically provides photos, video production for businesses and individuals,” he said.

This includes aspiring content creators and music artists, and its services for businesses include producing training videos and conferences.

JPC can produce documentaries, real estate videography, and it can work key events as well, like weddings.

“One of the things that we’re going to be doing is we’re going to be putting on our own productions right here from this area too,” Majette said. “Right now we’re working on a TV show that’s going to be produced right out of Franklin and Southampton County.”

Reflecting on the significance of the Jan. 16 ribbon cutting that created public acknowledgement of his dream becoming a reality, Majette said, “I think that it means everything, because so many times you don’t get the recognition that you would like when you’re from an area. So for me personally, going to Atlanta and getting on TV and becoming an actor and those type of things, I feel like they helped my journey as I came back here.”

He noted that family members pointed out to him that running Jett Production Company is something he had been wanting to do his whole life.

“I was writing stage plays when I was 9 years old,” he said, “and I had full productions that my family members would have to be my actors in and things like that … so to see this all come around full circle, it’s an amazing accomplishment for me.”

Majette indicated that JPC technically has no set business hours because they are client-tailored, so he noted that the best way to contact JPC is via its website at www.JettProductionCompany.com, or via email at info@jettproductioncompany.com or via phone at 757-977-8314.
