CARRSVILLE – Darold S. Kemp, 71, passed awa

y on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025. He was the son of Chuck Kemp and Hazel Phelps. Darold was a member of Operating Engineers Local 147 in Norfolk. He joined the Operating Engineers as an apprentice in 1973, following his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps as a mechanic. Darold rose to Apprenticeship Coordinator Director in 1982 through 2009. He then became a business manager and he retired in 2019. Darold was also a Health and Welfare trustee/ chairman from 1986 through 2019 and an Annuity Fund Trustee Chairman from 2001-2019.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife and high school love of 55 years, Peggy Kemp; three beloved children, Michele Kemp, Jennifer Wilmoth (Bill) and Chuck Kemp (Leighann). His mom, Hazel Kemp Phelps; two sisters; Cindi Williamson and Beatrice Ayton (Jim); a brother, Chuck Kemp (Kathy); four grandchildren, Zachery, Meryn, Makenna and Tyson; four stepgrandchildren and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He will be truly missed.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends and family at the funeral home on Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
