Franklin City Public Schools announced Friday afternoon, Feb. 14, that Superintendent Dr. Carlton Carter will host a town hall meeting from 6-7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, in the Franklin High School auditorium.
The high school is located at 310 Crescent Drive in Franklin.
The announcement comes in the wake of an FHS student protest on Friday and strong public comments from citizens and Franklin City Council members on Monday, Feb. 10, expressing opposition to the school division’s recent decision to move Travis Felts from his longtime role of FHS principal to a position working out of Central Office.
The FCPS announcement on Friday noted that people who attend the Feb. 17 town hall meeting must write their questions on paper, such as an index card, and these will be collected before and during the meeting.
“Dr. Carter will respond only to those written questions,” FCPS officials stated in the announcement.
The Franklin City School Board is set to hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday, Feb. 20. Open session begins at 7 p.m., and it will include a Citizen’s Time segment, which allows for public comment. In anticipation of people wanting to make their voices heard, the school division posted the requirements to participate in Citizen’s Time on its Facebook page on Thursday morning, Feb. 13.
The School Board meeting will be held in the Franklin City Council Chambers, which are located on the first floor of Franklin City Hall at 207 W. 2nd Ave.
