IVOR – Richard Donald Bean, 80, passed away Feb. 2, 2025 in Emporia Health and Rehabilitation. He was born in Isle of Wight on Nov. 11, 1944 to the late Richard James Bean and Maggie Roberts Bean and was a long-time resident of Franklin. He was also predeceased by his wife, Betty Green Bean; a daughter, Dana L. Bean; a sister, Betty Joann Bean; two brothers, Larry Allen Bean and Terry Lee Bean and a grandson, Josh Dunlow.

Richard was a 1964 graduate of Windsor High School and was a Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a retired lime kiln operator in the Pulp Mill at International Paper with 39 years of service. Richard was a former D.J. for the Franklin Shag Club.

Left to cherish his memory is a son, Brian I. Bean and his wife, Lisa of Ivor; a brother, Barry Alvin Bean of Lancaster, Virginia; four grandchildren, Melvin Dunlow, Matthew Coggsdale,III, Scott Bean and Zachary Bean; and two great-grandchildren, Kaden Dunlow and Maddyson Dunlow.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Kelby Lilly officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and suggests that memorial donations be made to any favorite charity.
