The Franklin Lady Broncos hold on to defeat the Southampton Lady Indians 44-41 in an overtime thriller Friday.
When the final buzzer sounded inside Peggy Wilson Gym the score was knotted at 38.
Following the game, Broncos coach Kelvin Hayes commended his team for handling the adversity of being down two starters.
“What a good game. Unfortunately, we had two of our starters out, so we had to play with six players. The girls committed and they said that they were going to play hard, they were going to keep the faith that we’re going to be able to accomplish the goal that we set out for, Hayes said. “We knew that we were able to win, but we had to do it with less. But the girl’s maintained focus and we pulled it out in overtime. I’m proud of how they played. They played really hard with some excitement, some zeal and they came through with the win.”
The Lady Broncos were led by Mykira Barrett with 29 points, and Reagan D’Arco led the Lady Indians with 19 points.
