The Franklin Department of Parks and Recreation, in collaboration with the Camp25 Foundation, officially launched its Youth Volleyball League at the J.P. King Career Technical Academy on Sunday, Nov. 3.
An FDPR news release noted that the event marked the start of an exciting season, featuring seven competitive games across two divisions.
The Junior Division (ages 10-15) saw strong performances, with Team Franklin Parks and Recreation leading the charge. It ended the day undefeated with a 2-0 record, setting a solid foundation for the season.
Meanwhile, the Rookie Division (ages 6-9) showcased fierce competition. Team Dragons (1-1) claimed a victory over Team Raptors (0-1) but faced a tough challenge in its match against the Blue Devils (1-0). The game went to a thrilling third set, with the Blue Devils ultimately edging out the Dragons for a narrow 16-14 victory.
The season continued on Sunday, Nov. 10, and will keep progressing on subsequent Sundays, with games starting at 1 p.m. at the J.P. King Career Technical Academy.
“We encourage the community to come out and support the players as they compete for a spot in the championship games, scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 15,” FDPR officials stated.
