Commercial burglaries occurred in Franklin and Windsor in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Aug. 6, and collaboration between the Windsor, Franklin, and Suffolk police departments led to the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of the stolen property later that day.

WPD and Franklin Police Department personnel identified a vehicle likely involved in both incidents and eventually identified a suspect in both cases. The FPD secured arrest warrants for the suspect.
Suffolk Police Department investigators located the suspect near his residence in Suffolk and took him into custody, the release stated, continuing. WPD officers obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s residence in Suffolk. FPD officers interviewed the suspect and obtained a confession, with him admitting to both burglaries.
WPD, FPD and SPD officers executed the search warrant in the 1400 block of Brigantine Heights in Suffolk; the release continued. Cigarettes from both burglaries were recovered from the suspect’s residence.
According to the release, 33-year-old Dayshawn Cameron of Suffolk was subsequently charged with two counts of commercial burglary, one count of grand larceny, one count of possession of burglarious tools, one count of petty larceny and two counts of destruction of property.
Cameron was taken to the Western Tidewater Regional Jail, where he is being held without bond.
