FRANKLIN – Barbara “Bobbie” Wright Joyner, 93, passed away on April 30, 2024 in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Robert Felton Lee and Lila Akins Lee. She was also predeceased by her first husband, George L. Wright Jr.; her second husband, Edwin J. “Pee Wee” Joyner; her son, David A. Wright and two brothers, Robert F. Lee and Billy J. Lee.

Bobbie was a retired data processor specialist for Union Camp Corporation and a member of Burdette Baptist Church and well known in the community for her apple jacks.

Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Sandy White (Gene); two sons, George L. “Buddy” Wright III (Kathy) and Wade A Wright (Renee); stepdaughter, Lynn J. Ivey (Steve); stepson, Glenn Joyner (Laura); Nanny to her nine grandchildren, Jeff Lander (Kristin), Kristy Britt (Jamie), Brandon Ivey, Kristen Brinkley, Alan Wright (Courtney), Brooke Cobb (Mason), Leah Spicer (Brian), Coleman Wright and Miranda Jernigan (Bradley); Granny and Nanny to her six great-grandchildren, Madisyn, Kadence and Hunter Britt, Charlee Brinkley, Waylan Wright and Garrett Cobb; a sister, Betty L. Smith; a brother, Jackie M. Lee and a sister-in-law, Betty Lee.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Poe officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Her nine grandchildren will be pallbearers. After the burial, a reception will follow at Burdette Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests memorial donations be made to Burdette Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.

The family would like to thank Bobbie’s caregivers, Mary, Christy and Maryanna.
