Cleopatra Clarke Savedge

September 8, 1924 – March 19, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cleopatra Clarke Savedge on March 19, 2024. She was the daughter of the Late Walter and Emily Clarke. Born on September 8, 1924 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, Cleopatra lived a life filled with love, laughter, and compassion. She dedicated her life to her family and was a devoted mother, always putting the needs of her loved ones before her own. She was the widow of the late Russell R. Savedge, Sr. and reigned as the oldest member and Deacon Emeritus of Cypress Baptist Church in Elberon, Virginia.

Cleopatra retired after 30 years of Service in Surry County Public Schools and was known for her kindness and generosity, always extending a helping hand to those in need. Her warm smile and gentle spirit touched the lives of many. She had a passion for civic duty, wholesome entertainment, equity, education, and service. Her enthusiasm and persistence were infectious to all who surrounded her. She loved her church and her community.

Cleopatra is survived by her daughter and son-in-law with whom she resided with for the last seven years (Dr. MeChelle S. Blunt and Mr. Larry Blunt, Sr.) of Courtland, Virginia, a son and his wife (Mr. Russell R. Savedge, Jr and Mrs. Wanda Wells Savedge) of Elberon, Virginia, four grandchildren Larry Antonio Blunt, Jr. and his spouse Morgan of Toronto, Canada; LaChelle Antonece Blunt-Evans and her spouse Darius of Suffolk, Virginia; Russell R. Savedge, III of Surry, Virginia and Peter Donovan Savedge from Washington, D.C. Cleopatra was blessed and cherished her four incredible great grandchildren, Isaiah Daniel, Nyla MeChelle and Jalen Darius Evans and Layla Marie Blunt. In addition to her family and friends, Cleopatra Clarke Savedge leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

A public viewing will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Move of God Ministries, 221 Main Street, Franklin, Virginia. Friends and family are invited to pay their final respects and celebrate the life of Cleopatra Clarke Savedge on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the Cypress Baptist Church located at 849 Runnymede Road, Elberon, Virginia followed by the interment at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 8438 White Marsh Road, Elberon, Virginia.

Cleopatra will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. The memory of Cleopatra Clarke Savedge will forever be in our hearts, and her spirit will continue to guide us through life’s ongoing journey. William M. Johnson and Sons are rendering professional homegoing services.
