Properly retiring the U.S. flag is done by burning, during a respectful ceremony, and thanks to Eagle Scout Christopher D. Cornwell Jr. of Troop 17 in Franklin, that has just gotten easier for area residents. As part of his Eagle Scout project, Cornwell built and donated a Flag Retirement Box to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4411. The box is located at 3385 Beaver Dam Road, Franklin. We commend Eagle Scout Cornwell for his thoughtful and much needed Flag Retirement Box and also commend VFW Post 4411 for their continued good works in the community.
