Broncos excel in Scholastic Bowl tournament

The Franklin High School Scholastic Bowl Team competed in the Tri-Rivers District Tournament at Windsor High School on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

In the semifinals match, the Broncos took on the Southampton Indians.  The Broncos powered to a final score of 220-90.

In the finals match the Broncos faced off with Surry.  The Broncos took off with an impressive 115 points in round one, not looking back, winning the District Tournament with a final score of 245-85.

Special awards were decided at this tournament by the coaches.  The Broncos had two players receiving first team selections.  Those were Kamarre Hicks and Hunter Patterson.  The coaches also selected Alanna Boone as a second team selection.  

The Broncos also swept top honors at this tournament with Kamarre Hicks being named Tri-Rivers Player of the Year and Coach Brandon Yanna being named Tri-Rivers Coach of the Year.

The team will be competing on Saturday, Jan. 20, in the Region 1B Tournament at Galileo Magnet High School in Danville.
