He held close to his heart his many friendships he formed throughout the years.

Born and raised in Surry, C.B. was a true outdoor enthusiast. He loved to fish and was an avid hunter; spending many hours in the woods as a child with his dad and later with his family. He was especially fond of his fellow hunters. C.B. was valedictorian of the 1969 graduation class of Randolph Macon Academy in Front Royal, Virginia. He was a graduate of both University of Richmond in 1973 and T.C. Williams School of Law in 1976.

Professionally he served the people of Southside Virginia for 45 plus years as a devoted attorney and counselor. C.B. took pride in being a member of the Virginia State Bar, Virginia Bar Association, as well as a member of the Virginia Bar Disciplinary Committee for many years. His years as a substitute judge were a true blessing to him.

C.B.’s love and pride for his family and his home – Crosse Creeke Farm – was obvious in all that he would do and say. He would often say, “I truly see and feel the presence of God in the land and the creatures throughout.”

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 12 at the barn on the family farm located at 1093 Crosse Creeke Trail, Spring Grove, VA 23881. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11 in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, Wakefield Chapel.
