Cheroenhaka (Nottoway) Indian Tribe of Southampton County Chief Walt “Red Hawk” Brown, pictured at far left, recently accepted the invitation of University of Richmond Faculty Fellow Dr. Todd Lookingbill, pictured shaking hands with Brown, to come to Richmond and give a Native American History Month presentation, covering the history and language of the tribe during the university’s International Education Week. A tribal news release noted that visitors during the week included individuals and professors from the Amazon rainforest, Japan, Ecuador, New Zealand, Peru and China. Brown was accompanied by other tribal members, seen at right.
