Katherine E. Weaver

Katherine worked for Union Camp Corporation for 34 years as a paper tester in the humidity room, the lab and later as the phone system operator and cashier in the main office where she came to know so many and where all who met her would be met with a sweet smiling face. She will be remembered for her sweet and kind ways and love towards all. Katherine would always prepare a pie or food for anyone that she knew needed comfort or that just needed to be remembered. She was a former member the Southampton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She grew up attending Sunbeam Baptist Church and was presently a member of Franklin Presbyterian Church.

She loved butterflies, flowers, working in the yard and planting flower beds. Many memorable trips were made through the years to Branson, Nashville, White Lake, North Carolina, Nags Head, Washington, D.C. and our beloved Myrtle Beach. She loved to go shopping and most anywhere with her daughter at her side.

Katherine loved her family and never forgot to send her siblings a birthday card each year. She loved animals and always had a beloved family pet. She was very caring and faithful to her family and siblings and was always there in times of sickness or need. She lived a strong faith in God and instilled this faith daily in her daughter and many of her family and friends.

Her journey in life influenced many in such loving and positive ways. Katherine had much determination and strived daily to provide for her daughter and see that she grew up to receive a college education. Her love and loyalty for her daughter and family never faltered and remained steadfast throughout her life.

Katherine is lovingly remembered and survived by her daughter, Kaye Weaver; her Bichon granddogs, Ben and Jerry; three brothers, Cecil E. Edwards, William R. “Bill” Edwards and Robert J. “Bobby” Edwards, all of Franklin; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16 in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Hoyle Green officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7:30 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Franklin Presbyterian Church.

Her daughter would like to thank Traditions Health Hospice for their care, support and love and her nurse Siobhan, Chaplain David and the many angels present throughout her journey at East Pavilion nursing home. She is eternally grateful to her private caregivers, Martha Raiford, Nancy Wright, Angelina Smith and Earnestine Mallory. Thank you for being her angels of love and our extended family over the past year. God bless you all.
