Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced on Nov. 10 the appointment of Chief Walt “Red Hawk” Brown, of the Cheroenhaka (Nottoway) Indian Tribe of Southampton County, to serve on the Virginia Indian Advisory Board. Brown, pictured at left, took the oath of office Monday, Nov. 20. It was administered to him, on behalf of the secretary of the commonwealth, by Southampton Circuit Court Clerk Richard L. “Rick” Francis.
