Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash involving tractor-trailers Thursday evening, Nov. 9, on U.S. Route 460 in Isle of Wight County. Injuries resulted from the crash, but they were not life-threatening.

A VSP news release stated that at around 9:08 p.m. on Nov. 9, troopers responded to a two-vehicle commercial motor-vehicle crash on U.S. 460 (Windsor Boulevard) just west of the intersection of Route 639 (Winston Drive) within Isle of Wight County.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2020 Volvo tractor-trailer, Leslie Paul-Moore Turner, was hauling an empty chassis trailer when his vehicle became disabled within the right lane of eastbound U.S. 460, police stated. They continued by stating that Turner was still in his cab looking for his emergency triangles when a second tractor-trailer, a 2016 International, struck it from behind.

The 2016 International, driven by George Herbert Brown, was hauling an enclosed trailer of water bottles and was also traveling eastbound on U.S. 460 in the right lane when it struck the disabled tractor-trailer, police stated.

The release noted that Brown was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“At this time neither drugs, alcohol nor speed appear to be contributing factors,” police said, adding that the crash was still under investigation.
