Members of the GFWC Sedley Woman’s Club and the GFWC Tarrara Woman’s Club participated in the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) National Day of Service on Sept. 30, to fight against food insecurity. Members volunteered at the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore at 618 Marketplace in Franklin. Volunteers sorted and shelved food donations and each Woman’s Club gave a cash donation. Donor and Community Partners Manager Teri Zurfluh, gave a tour of the space and talked about the various services including free food for those needing assistance. There are also education services to help people become more food secure. If you need food assistance, call 757-641-0682.
