MIDLAND, North Carolina – Patricia Wilson Sawyer, aged 76, residing in Midland, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023. Patricia, more commonly known as Pat, was born on July 3, 1947 in Lexington, Kentucky. Although born in Lexington, she spent most of her childhood in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. Pat is survived by her son, Heath; her daughter-in-law, Heather and her granddaughter, Hannah. She is also survived by her sister, Susan Wilson Gray(Randy) and brother, E. Ray Whitehurst (Judy); brothers and sisters-in-law, Ann Eure, Billy Sawyer (Theresa), Donnie Sawyer, Sandy Sawyer and Bobby Chappell; nieces and nephews, Ava Parrish (Cecil), Jeff Burke, Mike Burke (Wanda), Stacey Hill, Stella Wils

on Beard, Chris Chappell (Cathy), Janet Ambrose (Jimmy), Steve Eure, Craig Sawyer (Laura), Nathan Sawyer (Leslie), Michael Sawyer (Jessica) and Josh Sawyer, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; mother, Bernice Warren and father, Raymond Wilson; her sister, Bernice Burke and brother, Raymond Wilson; sisters-in-law, Nancy Sawyer and Joan Chappell and brothers-in-law, Willard Burke, Agrippa Sawyer and Carlton Eure.

Pat worked as a hair dresser for over 50 years, styling hair in Franklin, Virginia, Kennewick, Washington, Longview, Texas and Perdido, Key, Florida and opening hair salons in many of those locations. Once returning to Franklin, in the years prior to retirement, Pat was co-owner of Tangles, reconnecting with many friends and clients that she worked with many years earlier.

If you know Pat, you know that she had never met a stranger, as evident by her wide circle of friends across the country. She loved spending time at the beach and loved her dogs. Most of all, Pat loved being Gigi and making memories with Hannah. Pat and Richard retired to Midland in 2019 to spend more time with Heath, Heather and Hannah and to watch Hannah grow up. Pat especially loved watching Hannah ride horses.

A celebration of life will be held at Wright Funeral Home and Crematory in Franklin, Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at 2 p.m. Following the service, Pat’s family will host a reception at the Main Event in downtown Franklin to share memories of Pat.
