Firefighters help Meherrin Elementary School embrace Fire Safety Week

Meherrin Elementary School wholeheartedly embraced Fire Safety Week with a visit from the Newsoms Volunteer Fire Department.
A school news release noted that the entire student body had the opportunity to see a firetruck and hear a presentation by the members of the NVFD.
The students learned the importance of “Stop, Drop, and Roll” and to be sure to have a plan to get out of a burning building in the event of an emergency.
School officials stated in the release that Meherrin Elementary would like to thank the Newsoms Volunteer Fire Department for taking the time to educate its students on the importance of fire safety.
“Your community partnership with our schools is deeply appreciated!” school officials stated.
