Descendants of Phillip and Millie Johnson Raiford will be gathering this Saturday, Oct. 14, for a family reunion.

According to an event press release, “Tony Lowe, formerly of Corinth, and son of Russell Lowe, will be the main speaker and Thelma Lowe Raiford who recently turned 100 years young, will also share some personal memories and answer questions from those in attendance.”

Family history books written by Judy Raiford Pantelides will be available for purchase. The books, From Europe to America: the History of the Wrayford/Rayford/Raiford Family share the ancestry of Philip Wrayford the Immigrant who first came to Isle of Wight in 1672. The two books cover the detailed lineage of all of the children of Philip and Millie from the 1700s to the present, which accounts for most of the Raifords and allied families in the area as well as across the U.S.

On Saturday, Oct. 14, the family reunion will be held from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Bronco Club located at 31040 Delaware Road in Franklin.

Family members are asked to bring old photos and family memorabilia as well as a dish to share. For those who have family photos or memorabilia, they are asked to bring them by 11 a.m. so those arriving can enjoy them prior to lunch, which will be served at about noon.

On Sunday, Oct. 15, all family members are invited to attend services at Corinth Friends Meeting at 11 a.m. which was started by the Raiford family in the late 1800s. Attendees will also visit some family cemeteries and show some old Raiford homes.

We look forward to seeing as many family members as possible on Saturday,” officials stated.
