FRANKLIN – Jamie Griffin Vaughan, 74, passed away Sept. 12, 2023 in her home. Born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and raised in Smithfield, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late James Felts Griffin and Marian Francis Griffin. She was also predeceas

ed by a sister, Nancy Ann Griffin Fore and a brother, Virgil S. “Tinker” Abel III.
Jamie was a graduate of Smithfield High School and received an associate’s degree from Chowan College. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for Portsmouth Naval Hospital and a member of the Virginia Nursing Association. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 53 years, Lonnie Mitchell Vaughan; a daughter, Amy Michelle Vaughan of Greenville, North Carolina; a son, Loren Christopher Vaughan of Franklin; and two grandchildren, Winston McCourry Vaughan and Gabrialla Francis Vaughan.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15 in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Charles Qualls officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502.
