FRANKLIN – Barbara Jean Carr Cutchins Gray, 87, passed away July 17, 2023, in Beth Sholom Home in Henrico. Born in Carrsville, she was a daughter of the late Crawley Cecil Carr and Daisy Holland Carr. She was also predeceased by her first husband, Marvin “Mutt” Cutchins and her second husband, Melvin Gray; two sisters, Thelma Stephenson and Dot Holland; and four brothers, J.J. Carr, Louis Carr, Marvin Carr and Cecil Carr.

Barbara was a graduate of Holland High School and after her first husband’s death in 1972, she raised her three children and successfully ran her husband’s companies, Cutchins Tire Co. and Cutchins Arco Service. She also worked part-time as a real estate agent representing Southampton County. Barbara was a life-long member of the Franklin Garden Club and a member of Franklin Presbyterian Church.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Kim Cutchins (Craig Kvien) and Deb Cutchins; a son, Edward Cutchins (Shinae); a stepdaughter, Kim Gray Walker (Wayne); a sister, Carolyn Duke (Raye) of Charlotte, North Caroli a; and eight grandchildren, Joseph and Daisy Cutchins, Samuel and Gabriel Staley, Zachary Rosenfield, Amy and Allison Kvien and Gracen Bear (Nick).

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 22 in Wright Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and the American Heart Association.
