The president’s list for the spring 2023 semester at James Madison University included two residents of Courtland and one resident of Franklin.

A JMU news release noted that students who earn president’s list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.900 or greater.

Among the James Madison students to meet those standards this spring were Riley Benson, of Courtland, Emilie Howell, of Courtland, and Kaitlyn Martin, of Franklin.

Benson is majoring in nursing, Howell is majoring in communication sciences and disorders, and Martin is majoring in art.

Founded in 1908, JMU is a public university located in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley.

School officials noted that JMU has “world-class faculty who drive education innovation and support advanced research. With state-of-the art amenities and facilities, students have access to NCAA Division 1 athletics.

“JMU also has the highest post-graduation job levels of all Virginia colleges,” officials stated.
