The Broncos (10-11) reached the state tourney after advancing to the Region 1B Tournament championship game.

Franklin traveled to face Central Lunenburg High School on May 30 in the regional semifinals and came away with a 2-1 victory.

This set up the Broncos’ showdown against host Riverheads High School in the regional final Thursday, June 1.

It was an evenly matched game as the Broncos and the Gladiators held each other to a scoreless tie through regulation and two overtimes. Riverheads ultimately prevailed in a penalty-kick shootout that followed, 3-2.

The Northampton Yellowjackets (13-4) are the Region 1A champions after defeating No. 1 Westmoreland High School 3-1 on Thursday as the No. 3 seed.
