First grade Capron Elementary students in Connie Johnson’s and Katie Butler’s classes recently visited the Southampton Heritage and Agriculture & Forestry Museum in Courtland. Students enjoyed an enlightening tour of the grounds given by Al Briggs, Dennis Burgess, Jeff Butler, Jimmy Holland, Tommy Lowe and Bill Wolfe. The museum, is dedicated to preserving antique farm equipment, hand tools and rural wares used “way back when.” The children enjoyed indoor and outdoor displays and exhibits of more than 6,000 items many of which are 200+ years old. The Heritage Village includes a 1950s country store, a one-room schoolhouse, country dwelling, 4-seater outhouse and more. The main building houses 26 model trains on 10 layouts and watching the trains operate around the tracks mesmerized the students. Lunch was held under the Pavilion. Pictured are, from left, front row, Grace Powell, Brylee Griffiths, Valeria Verduzo-Rios, Emma Grizzard, Abdullah Hussan, Avery Bryant, Kaleia Woolard, Tamiah Clark; middle row, Camilla Moye, Addyson Moss, Miranda Moss, Carleigh Wright, Camryn Finch, Avery Bain, Lyndee Banner, Teagan Gunn, Alaina Nielson, Deja Joyner, Brooklyn Harrison, Anthony Rawlings; back row, Blake Finch, Arturo Dullas, Easton Temple, William Himes II,  DeNiya McNeil, Hudson Jarratt, Kyson Lester, Raylen Walters, Roman Ellsworth, Morgan Young, Alayna Russell, Ayce Johnson and Ryan Crickenberger.
