CAPRON – Ellen Evans Harrison, 78, passed away June 1, 2023, in her home with her family by her side. Born in South Hill, she was a daughter of the late Peyton Lee Evans and Gaynell Watson Evans.

Ellen was a graduate of Virginia State University. She was a former teacher at Southampton High School and a former classification therapist counselor at Southampton Men’s Work Center. Ellen was a member of Capron Baptist Church and was very involved in the church and with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, William K. “Slim” Harrison Jr. and Richard P. Harrison, all of Capron; a sister, Jean Moody of Freeman, Virginia; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 5 in Capron Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Carr officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Capron Volunteer Fire Department or the American Cancer Society.
