Coach Dennis Sumblin and his team of Frederick Cross, Dr. Rodney Bland and Robert Britt recently won first place in the second flight of the 9th Annual Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Scholarship Corp. Golf Classic. The tournament was sponsored by the Epsilon Iota Lambda Chapter (Cities of Franklin, Suffolk, Isle of Wight County and Southampton County) on April 22 at the Sleepy Hole Golf Course in Suffolk.  Sumblin is a former golf coach, and presently, the head girls’ basketball and track & field coach at Franklin High School.
