Bronco Federal Credit Union awards $23K in scholarships

Bronco Federal Credit Union was pleased to award high school seniors who are members with scholarships to help them begin their higher education journey.
A BFCU news release noted that the presentations of awards were made at the BFCU Annual Meeting on April 25 at Camp Community College’s Regional Workforce Development Center.
This year’s program awarded two $5,000 scholarships, two $3,000 scholarships, two $2,000 scholarships and three $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors.
Reese Brock, of Southampton High School, and Emily Benton, of First Flight High School, are the recipients of the $5,000 John Alan Glasgow Memorial Scholarships. This scholarship is named in memory of John Alan Glasgow, Franklin High School Class of 1999, to recognize the scholastic and life achievements of a graduating student.
Kaitlyn Worrell, of Smithfield High School, is the recipient of the $3,000 James C. Copeland Scholarship and Amon Gary, of Southampton High School, is the recipient of a $3,000 scholarship known as the Charles A. Wrenn Scholarship. Both scholarships are named in honor of past board chairmen who served 30-plus years on the Bronco Federal Credit Union Board.
Madelyn Brown, of Southampton High School, was awarded a $2,000 Bronco Federal Credit Union Scholarship as well as Cameron Jenkins, of Southampton High School, who was awarded the $2,000 Robert T. Petty Scholarship. This scholarship honors the memory of Robert T. Petty, past CEO of Bronco Federal Credit Union.
In addition, Kiersten Nichols, of Southampton High School; Lauren Gaskins, of Wilson High School; and D.J. Dillon, of Rock Church School, each received a $1,000 scholarship from Bronco Federal Credit Union.
BFCU officials noted that the 2023 scholarship winners have demonstrated excellent community and extracurricular activity involvement, as well as strong academics throughout their high school careers.
Bronco Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative that was founded in 1941 and is headquartered in Franklin. Bronco Federal Credit Union serves the Hampton Roads community and employs 53 team members, both in Franklin and Suffolk.
BFCU officials stated that providing quality financial services to more than 18,000 members through three locations will always be the No. 1 priority.
