FRANKLIN – Charles Edward “Eddie” Burns, 75, passed away on April 29, 2023, after a recent illness. Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Jan. 23, 1948, he was the son of the late Joe Tom and Molly Burns of Wedowee, Alabama.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Dianne Davis Burns and their son, Adam (Jennifer) of Irondale, Alabama and their children, Lucy and Harmon. He is also survived by his sister, Jane Johnson (David) of Wedowee, Alabama; two brothers, Joe Tom Burns Jr. (C.J.) of Wedowee, Alabama and Steve Burns (Sabra) of Roanoke, Alabama and a host of nephews and

nieces.

Eddie attended the University of Alabama and later pharmacy school at Samford in Birmingham. He practiced retail pharmacy for several years before becoming a hospital pharmacist in Gadsden, Alabama. He moved his family to Franklin in 1986 to assume a pharmacy position at Southampton Memorial Hospital and retired from that pharmacy in 2020 after 34 years of service.

He was a member of High Street United Methodist Church and was an avid University of Alabama fan, who enjoyed snow skiing and sailing. He was well known for his dry sense of humor.

A service of remembrance will take place at High Street United Methodist Church on Camp Parkway on Saturday, May 13, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Ned Alderman will lead the service.
