BOYKINS – Lloyd Rawlings Bryant took the hand of the Lord and passed away peacefully in Emporia Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center with his family and Hospice of Virginia by his side on April 23, 2023 at the age of 78. Born in Courtland, he was

a son of the late James Walter Bryant Sr. and Irene Drake Bryant.

Lloyd was a U.S. Army Veteran and had an associate’s degree from Paul D. Camp Community College. He was an electrical supervisor of Union Camp in Seaboard and Chapman Lumber and a former employee of J.H. Lee and Son.

He was a wonderful, loving and devoted husband, father and Pa-Pa (grandfather). Lloyd loved his family and they loved him. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years, Sylvia Ogburn “Bunnie” Bryant; three sons, Michael Stephen Bryant of Boykins, Lynn Rawlings Bryant (Holly) of Boykins and Mark Ryan Bryant (Marlena) of Norfolk; a sister, Joan Hill of Jarratt; two brothers, Raymond Lee Bryant (Rita) and James Walter Bryant Jr. all of North Carolina; and a grandson, Braxton Knox Bryant.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2 in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond Bunn officiating. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Ave., Miami, FL 33136, Hospice of Virginia, Boykins Fire and Rescue or any favorite charity.
