Second grade students in Jasmine McDonald’s science class at Capron Elementary School recently completed animal research projects.

A school news release stated that the students were investigating and understanding that living things are part of a system. They were concentrating on the following key concepts:

  • Plants and animals are interdependent with their living and nonliving surroundings;
  • An animal’s habitat provides all of its basic needs; and
  • Habitats change over time due to many influences.

The children were assigned an animal and had to research the animal’s habitat, the food it eats and its size and appearance, as well as draw an illustration, and write three interesting facts about the animal.

“The students did a wonderful job and learned so much from this hands-on experience,” CES officials said.
