COURTLAND – Pauline Faye (Polly) Dodson, 79, went home with the Lord on Saturday April 15, 2023 with her husband by her side. Born in Roderfield, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Welda Mitchem. She was predeceased by her sister, Evelyn M. Ent.

Pauline M. Dodson

Polly was a retired Correctional Officer with the Virginia Department of Corrections with 27 years of service. Polly devoted her life as a Christian and loved the Lord just as much as she loved her big family. She touched so many lives in her years, but dearly loved her husband Marvin of almost 65 years of marriage. Her kids, grandkids and great-grand kids were the apple of her eye. She thought dearly of her daughter-in-LOVE, Kelly who she called her “angel” and took amazing care of her throughout her medical journey.

Left to cherish her beautiful memory is her husband, Marvin L. Dodson; her two sons, Jeffrey L Dodson (Kelly) and Jackson L. (Jack) Dodson (Sheri); her grandchildren, Jackson L. (Lee) Dodson II (Kendra), Kimberly N. Gaskins (Clayton), Tyler R. Dodson (Britney), Hannah E. Dodson and Olivia J. Dodson, as well as Kelly’s three children, Taylor R. Carr, Kennedi K. Carr and Tanner R. Carr; her great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Charlie Luck Dodson, Sawyer R. Dodson and Clayton, Caroline and Keegan Gaskins, as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the Gentiva Hospice for their care and compassion over the last several months. Polly was a beautiful, caring and loving wife, mother and Meme. She will be dearly missed by all. We love you our beautiful Angel.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on April 20 at Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Kidd officiating. The family will have a visitation from 6 – 8 p.m. on April 19. Burial will be private at a later date. Memorial donations can be made at Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 E. Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611 in her memory.
