The Belk location in Franklin is undergoing a conversion into a Belk Outlet store.

Jessica Rohlik, Belk senior manager of public relations, said the Franklin location at 1354 Armory Drive would be closing Sunday, April 16, to allow for the conversion.

“We’re targeting an opening by the end of May,” she said.

For the first time in Belk’s almost 135-year history, the company launched Belk Outlet as an opportunity for customers to get the best brands at a great price, a recent company news release stated.

The Belk location in Greeneville, Tennessee, pioneered the initiative, the release added, noting that the company converted that existing store into the first Belk Outlet and opened its doors to the public on Jan. 30.

“The feedback from customers was overwhelmingly positive, and Belk is proud to announce that an additional five locations will be opening within the next week,” officials stated in the March 28 release.

Elaborating on what a Belk Outlet store offers, the release noted that each outlet location will include discounted items that come directly from larger Belk stores across the retailer’s footprint, and customers will have access to many new items, including high-end and designer brands that locations may not have carried in the past.
