FRANKLIN – Bertie Howell Scott, 90, passed away March 7, 2023 in her home with her family by her side. Born in Courtland and raised in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Walter Howell and Corine Dickerson Howell.

Bertie was a 1950 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and was a retired insurance agent with Bristow Insurance Agency with 39 years of service.

She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and Faithful Workers Sunday School. Bertie was a member of High Street Senior Circle and a volunteer at East Pavilion Nursing Home. She was also a member of the Club 55 Bowling League.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Paul Roland Scott; her daughter, Carolyn Darden Cutchin and her husband, Scott of Suffolk; a grandson, Allen C. Cutchin; two great-grandchildren, Ayden P. Cutchin and Adaline R. Cutchin; four stepchildren, Carroll Scott, Keith Scott, Paula Manson (Barry) and Betty Ann Jackson (Keith); seven stepgrandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 9 in Wright Funeral Home.
