Police investigate Franklin shooting, victim airlifted to Norfolk

The Franklin Police Department is investigating a Wednesday morning, Feb. 15, shooting on Pretlow Street that left a man injured.

A Feb. 15 FPD news release noted that at about 11:40 a.m., the Franklin Police Department Communications Center received multiple calls in reference to a shooting in the 400 block of Pretlow Street. 

Upon FPD officers arriving on scene, they discovered a 35-year-old male suffering from a single gunshot wound, police said. The victim was treated by Franklin Fire and Rescue and flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital by Lifevac. 

Sharing an update Tuesday, Feb. 21, FPD Chief Steve Patterson said the victim was treated and released.

The FPD’s Feb. 15 news release stated that the suspect, who remained on scene, was questioned and released pending a case review by the Southampton County Commonwealth’s Attorney. 

This investigation is ongoing.
