The students of Nottoway Elementary School’s fourth grade science classes have been learning about the phases of the moon with the help of some sweet hands-on manipulatives — Oreos.

A school news release stated that following their lessons on moon phases, the students were each given a stack of Oreos and were asked to separate them and cut the inner cream to represent each phase from their interactive notebooks.

“It is doubtful that the students will forget the moon phases after such a fun and sweet lesson,” school officials said. “Keep up the excellent work, Nottoway Cougars!”
