Observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 16, will lead to changes in the normal operation of Franklin and Southampton County’s governments.

Southampton County Administrative Assistant Tina Bradshaw stated that county government offices will be closed Monday and will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 8:30 a.m.

“Southampton County Solid Waste Collection Sites will be closed as scheduled,” she said. “For emergencies regarding water or sewer, please contact 757-653-2100.”

Franklin City Manager Amanda C. Jarratt stated that city government offices will be closed Monday, and trash will be collected Tuesday.
