Government offices and services for the city of Franklin and Southampton County will be running on altered schedules due to the impending holidays, and Windsor Town Hall will be following the state’s schedule in reference to closings for both the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Offices in all three localities will be closed Friday, Dec. 23, and Monday, Dec. 26, in observance of Christmas. They will also be closed Monday, Jan. 2, in observance of New Year’s Day.

The Franklin Department of Public Works reports that the trash route for Friday, Dec. 23, will be picked up on Tuesday, Dec. 27, along with Tuesday’s route. The trash route for Monday, Dec. 26, will be picked up on Wednesday, Dec. 28, along with Wednesday’s route.

After New Year’s Day, the trash route for Monday, Jan. 2, will be picked up on Tuesday, Jan. 3, along with Tuesday’s route.

Southampton County reports that its solid waste collection sites will close at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, and they will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

County officials stated that if there is an emergency with someone’s water or sewer, they should call 757-653-2100.
