Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Christmas is around the corner, and the Franklin Garden Club is ready to help deck the halls with its festive “Christmas in Bloom” event on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Village at Wood’s Edge.

A club news release noted that the Franklin Garden Club is not busy only during the spring. The club works on projects in the area of conservation, restoration, beautification and education all year in the community.

The club was instrumental in creating the “Pocket Park” on 2nd Avenue downtown after Hurricane Floyd and is now focused on the development of the Blackwater Park. This park will be a one-of-a-kind outdoor destination along the Blackwater River where people from all over will come to see the various forests and wildlife that exists along the Blackwater River. Trails are being built with signage and a pavilion for enjoying a warm weather meal along with so much more.

This project, along with many more projects, takes fundraising. This is where Franklin Garden Club’s “Christmas in Bloom” event comes in.

Tickets, which are limited, are available for the event through Eventbrite.com where visitors should simply search for “Christmas in Bloom.”

The ticket will grant access to the following:

  • 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. — Special Guest Designer Kasey Stone is founder of Clerestory Design in Greensboro, North Carolina, architect with an emphasis on historical homes, licensed general contractor and a past White House Christmas decorator. This is Stone’s only appearance in Hampton Roads this holiday season. Space is limited, so get tickets now. Stone’s presentation will be followed by a presentation by John Moore Drewry on designing a “Christmas Floral Tablescape” for home during the holidays.
  • 12:30 p.m.-1:15 p.m. — Enjoy “Sip, Shop & Tour.” Shop with beautiful artisan vendors, enjoy a free glass of wine, and tour a cottage decorated in all the splendor of Christmas.
  • 1:15-2:30 p.m. — A luncheon will be served at the Village at Woods Edge with an exciting fashion show sponsored by the Cat’s Meow.

Bring family and friends for a fun day out to start celebrating the holiday season.
