FRANKLIN – Mrs. Dorothy Mae Carr, daughter of Essie and Arthur Eley was born Aug. 26, 1931. God peacefully called our beloved home on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022. Dorothy was educated in the Southampton County Schools. She was baptized at an early age and became a member of White Oak Spring Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her church family and served in many capacities over the years; member of the Helping Hands Club, Senior Choir and Pastor’s Aide President, to name a few.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and daughter. She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of over 60 years, Lloyd H. Carr; daughter, Vianne B. Olds (Henry Sr.); two grandchildren, Henry L. Olds Jr. (Stephanie), Corey A. Olds (Chonda); three great-grandchildren, Cameron B. Olds (Taylor), Alexis L. Olds and Caleb J. Olds; godson, DeShawn Hunt, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday from 3 – 7 p.m. A celebration ceremony will be held on Friday, Nov. 18, at 1 p.m. at White Oak Spring Missionary Baptist Church, 26125 Delaware Road in Franklin, with the pastor, Dr. Melvin Wofford delivering the eulogy. The committal and benediction will follow in Southview Cemetery. Masks are required at all services. Service provided by the professional and caring staff of Wm. M.
