Occupation: 43 years at Newport News Shipbuilding

Years living in Windsor: Moved to Isle of Wight County to the Benn’s Church area in the early 1980s, moved to Windsor in the early 1990s

Prior elected offices held: In the Shipyard I was elected by my peers as the Head of the Safety Task Team. Our team Won the President’s Model of Excellence Award. In the past 2 years I have joined the Ruritan Club in Windsor. In the last year I was elected to serve on the board of directors for the Ruritan club.

1. Can you briefly summarize why you decided to run for office?

I have always believed in serving my community. After retiring from the shipyard with 43 years of service, I felt like I wanted to give back to our community, now that I have the time to commit. I have spoken with many of my community members and they have said they believe I would do a good job. I listen very well to concerns of the community and will address issues as needed.

2. What would you list as your primary qualifications for this office?

As a supervisor for the shipyard, I managed many employees and projects and was a good communicator. I am a people person and strive to address everyone’s needs and concerns. I was sent by the shipyard to college and received certifications for organization skills and time management.

3. What should Windsor’s top priority be right now?

Controlling the growth of the town so we do not get too big too fast. Working with officials to help solve the drainage problems and setting up a schedule to maintain drainage issues.

4. What’s one thing you’d like to see change in terms of Windsor’s town government?

Accountability of the fees and services of sewer and water

5. What can Windsor do to deter vandalism of its parks and facilities?

Install cameras and hire more security as needed.

6. Does Windsor need more growth and development? If so, how can the town help achieve this?

Moderate growth only and ensuring we have quality contractors that gives us good quality homes.

7. What can be done to improve community-police relations in Windsor in the wake of ongoing litigation pertaining to a 2020 traffic stop where two WPD officers held Army Lieutenant Caron Nazario at gunpoint and pepper-sprayed him?

Continue to work and address issues with the police department to ensure training is implemented as needed.
