Police discover body in search for Franklin teen

Franklin Police Department reported discovering the body of a male subject Tuesday, Nov. 1, as officers engaged in a search for a missing Franklin teenager.
An FPD news release stated that at around 4:25 p.m. on Tuesday, officers were conducting an active investigation into the disappearance of 17-year-old Ronnie Jerome Everette Jr., of Franklin, who had last been seen in the city by family Thursday afternoon, Oct. 27.
While on scene Tuesday the officers were alerted by activity they observed in the 700 block of Gardner Street in Franklin, the release stated. Upon arrival they discovered the body of a male subject.
“The male subject was transported to the state medical examiner’s office in Norfolk,” police said. “The department is investigating this as an undetermined death investigation pending cause of death and positive identification of the victim.”
This investigation is ongoing, the release stated. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
The FPD thanked the Virginia State Police and Southampton County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for their assistance.
